The Parish Council is looking to fill 3 vacancies on the Council. .
There are three vacant posts on our Full Council following the elections in May.
Although there were no contested elections held in Stansted Mountfitchet at the parish level, a number or councillors took the opportunity to step down from their positions. We have already welcomed one new member to the Full Council since the election, and members took the decision at a meeting on Wednesday to fill the remaining posts by co-option.
Having 12 parish councillors is enough to satisfy legal requirements to allow the Full Council to take decisions on behalf of residents, but our Parish Councillors believe a full chamber will help it stay on top of its existing commitments and responsibilities.
The process of co-option involves the Parish Council inviting members of the community to submit applications to become a councillor. An application deadline has been set for June 30. Thereafter, on July 5, the Full Council will meet to assess each application received and will vote to settle on their preferred choices.
