Flooding

Flooding

A small number of sandbags are made available by Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council for personal use.

These can be found outside the doors of the Mountfitchet Exchange at 72 Chapel Hill.

Regular checks are also made on the level of Ugley Brook during bouts of heavy rain by a small team of voluntary flood wardens.

How to report flooding

Flooding caused by surface water, ground water, or non-main river flooding (such as small streams) should be reported to Essex County Council at flood.essex.gov.uk or by calling 0345 603 7631.

Flood Alerts or Warning?

A flood alert from the Environment Agency highlights the potential for flooding, as opposed to a flood warning which means flooding to some property is expected. Stansted currently is subject to a flood alert.
