If you are on the look out for some money to spruce up your club house, buy some new kit, or just want a bit of extra support to deliver an even better community service, why not apply for a parish council community grant?
Each year Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council provides thousands of pounds of funding to local organisations so they can put on amazing services and activities for the village residents.
In 2024 SMPC set aside £7,000 to help local groups. Among those we helped were TouchPoint, the Stansted Millers, and Let’s Talk, Stansted.
How much can you ask for?
Typical grants requests are for sums totalling £500, though the Parish Council does approve requests over and above this amount. In fact last the year the majority of community grants were double this figure.
When to apply
You can apply at any time during the year, but the later you apply for a grant in any given year, the greater the chance funds will have been claimed by other organisations and groups.
That’s why we encourage you to submit a request for a community grant by March 31.
By doing so, your organisation has the best chance of getting the grant it requested.
Grants 2025/26
Our Finance and General Purposes committee has already received and approved three grant applications for 2025/26.
The first grant was for £350 given to Buffy Play Bus. This organisation offers pre-school children with an opportunity to play, socialise and have fun in comfortable and safe surroundings.
A grant of £2,500 has been awarded to Uttlesford Community Travel, which helps people in our area get to hospital appointments and access community services.
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club, meanwhile, were awarded a grant for £440 to pay for cricket equipment used by children getting into the sport.
