National Highways plan to carry out essential waterproofing work to the North Bridge at M11 junction 8 over the full weekend of 8 to 11 September.
Work will be carried out between 9pm on Friday and 5am on Monday, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, National Highways will need to partially close junction 8 over the north bridge and divert traffic as follows:
HGVs and motorway traffic wanting to travel south on the M11 or continue on the A120 eastbound will be diverted south along the A10 and then eastwards along the A414 to rejoin the M11 at junction 7.
Non-Motorway traffic (no HGV’s) wanting to travel eastbound will be diverted from the A120 along the B1383, to then turn right to follow Forest Hall Road and Church Road, before travelling south along Bury Lodge Lane and Round Coppice Road to join the A120 at Priory Wood Roundabout.
Anyone wishing to use the Birchanger Services and rejoin the M11 southbound will need to join the M11 northbound towards junction 9a, exit and rejoin the M11 southbound.
Friday 8 September between 9pm and 5am only – Traffic travelling northbound on the M11 wishing to travel on the A120 westbound will divert to Bassingbourn Roundabout and then return via Priory Wood Roundabout to the A120.
Saturday 9 September, 5am to Monday 11 September, 5am – Traffic travelling northbound on the M11 wishing to travel on the A120 westbound will be diverted via the Priory Wood Roundabout.
Birchanger Lane will be closed at it’s junction with the A120. Follow diversion via B1383 and A120.
