A small cemetery managed by Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council for residents is located in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, off Church Road opposite Forest Hall School.
Short of space
For several years SMPC has been searching for new cemetery space in and around the village.
This is because there is there is very little capacity at St Mary’s currently for new internments. As of 2024 no viable sites found.
Alternative options
Anyone without an existing cemetery space is asked to consider internment options in nearby villages and towns. Your Funeral Director will be able to advise on this matter.
Cemetery Rules
Under the council’s Cemetery Regulations, burials and interments at St Mary’s are restricted to people resident within the parish of Stansted Mountfitchet, although exceptions may be granted by special request to the Parish Council.
You are asked to consult our Cemetery Regulations when planning an internment.
Please also note prior booking is required for every interment. Ceremonies of a special nature are subject to the approval of the Parish Clerk.
