Community Grants

Community Grants

Each year the Parish Council sets aside money for local organisations supporting the Stansted Mountfitchet community in the coming year.

For the financial year 2023/24, the sum reserved for this purpose totalled £7,000.

The Parish Council’s policy is to increase the grant total by 2% per annum. Any surplus left over is added to the sum that can be applied for by community organisations in the next financial year.

How much can you ask for?

Typical grants requests are for sums totalling £500, though the Parish Council does approve requests over and above this amount.

When to apply

You are encouraged to submit a request for a parish council community grant by March 31.

This ensures your organisation has the best chance of having its grant request approved for the sum applied for.

You can apply at any time during the year, but the later you apply for a grant in any given year, the greater the chance funds will have been claimed by other organisations and groups.

How to Apply

Head to our policies page and download a grant application form.

In your application you will need to detail:

• How much you would like to apply for

• What you will spend the grant on

• How you will help the people of Stansted

• How many people your service supports

• And send in a copy of your most recent accounts

NB to apply for a grant from the Parish Council it is a prerequisite that your organisation is properly constituted.

This means among other things, the group applying for financial support will need to show it has a committee; a chair, treasurer and secretary. For more information on what steps you must take to have your group recognised as properly constituted head to mycommunity.org.uk

Who to send your request to

You can email your application to info@stanstedmountfitchet-pc.gov.uk

Address your request either to Deputy Clerk Emma Philbrick or Parish Clerk Ruth Clifford.

The Parish Council’s policy is to increase the grant total by 2% per annum. Any surplus left over is held over and added to the sum that can be applied for by community organisations in the next financial year.
