This year the nation will be marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday, 8th May.
If you are thinking of joining in the celebrations by organising your own street party, be sure to allow enough time to get your paperwork in.
Street closures
You many need to apply to Uttlesford District Council for a temporary events notice. This will depend on the size of your party.
You will also have to get permission to close a road if that features as part of your party plans. The district council say that an application for a road closure needs to be with them at least 30 days before any event that needs a street to be shut.
Also, should you need a licence to sell alcohol at your VE Day party, make sure you allow 10 working days for it to be granted.
You should also let UDC know:
- the date and time of the party or event
- whether or not you want to close a road or section of road, and its name
- if the road is part of a bus route or used by through traffic
- a list of any properties or businesses affected
- if you’ve consulted neighbours
