Which Council Does What?

Which Council Does What?

Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council provides a number of services for the community and in areas such as street lights, grass cutting and hedge maintanence shares responsibility with the district and county councils.

Although the majority of services sought by residents are provided by Essex County Council and Uttlesford District Council, SMPC is the ‘first port of call’ for many residents enquiring about public services provided by these local authorities.

Whenever possible SMPC is happy to put you in touch with the appropriate agency to deal with any issue you have and try to take up problems on your behalf.

However it is worth remembering that in many circumstance Parish Councils have no more avenues open to them in dealing with other authorities than a resident has. As such, it can be more beneficial for you to contact an agency in the first instance.
