Minutes of the HIGHWAYS SUB-COMMITTEE meeting held on Wednesday 24th May 2023 at 7.00pm in The Mountfitchet Exchange, Crafton Green, 72 Chapel Hill, Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex
PRESENT Cllr G Sell (Chair), Cllrs M Caton, P Jones, A Khan and J O’Brien
ATTENDING Mrs Ruth Clifford – Parish Clerk Mrs Emma Philbrick – Deputy Clerk
28 TO ELECT A CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE
Cllr Caton as Chair of the Council opened the meeting and invited nominations for Chair of the sub-Committee.
Cllr O’Brien nominated Cllr Sell for the position of Chair, having been seconded by Cllr Khan and with no other nominations, it was unanimously;
RESOLVED that Cllr Geoffrey Sell be elected as Chair of the Highways sub-Committee for the Civic Year 2023/24
29 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE – None
No apologies were received from Cllr Prior
30 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST – None
31 TO ELECT A VICE-CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE
Cllr Caton proposed Cllr Khan for the position of Vice-Chair, having been seconded by Cllr O’Brien and with no other nominations, it was unanimously;
RESOLVED that Cllr Ayub Khan be elected as Vice-Chair of the Highways sub-Committee for the Civic Year 2023/24
32 TO CONSIDER CO-OPTING ANY NON-COUNCILLORS ONTO THE SUB- COMMITTEE
The Clerk advised the sub-Committee that at Annual Council, Mr Ray Woodcock had indicated his willingness to be co-opted back onto the sub-Committee should he be nominated by members. A discussion took place during which it was agreed that it would be helpful to have more non-councillor members from different parts of the village. A few names were suggested, and it was agreed to make approaches to those individuals prior to appointing any co-opted members. This item will be placed on the next agenda for further discussion.
