Reporting a faulty light
You can report a faulty street to the Parish Council.
Let us know the number of the light or its location, for example the road and house number where it is located closest to.
The light number on the lamp post includes letters relating to the street and a number.
What happens next?
Our lighting contractor will repair the damage light when they next visit Stansted.
Expect a repair to be made within a couple of weeks.
Light faults that require the attention of UK Power Networks can take 28 days to be fixed.

Part Night Lighting
The Parish Council looks after over 253 street lights, SMPC is currently modernising its lighting stock. Timers are being used to switch lights from all-night to part-night illumination. Grant funding from Uttlesford District Council is helping to pay for the installation of LED bulbs. Duplicate street lights around the village are also being turned off. These steps will save energy and cut Stansted’s carbon footprint.
Essex County Council run their own part-night lighting scheme. Under it street lights are switched off between 1am to 5am, Tuesday to Sunday (midnight until 5am on Monday Mornings). In Stansted Mountfitchet ECC part-night lighting covers Stansted Road, Jordan Close, Dockerell Road, West Road, Old Bell Close, Spencer Close, Crafton Close, Bentfield Gardens, Long Croft, Loates Pasture, Gilbey Crescent, Coltsfield, Meadowcroft, Birchalls, and Five Acres, and parts of Forest Hall.
