Bentfield Road
- Traffic Signals 6-8 February – To allow Essex County Council to complete carriageway resurfacing
Burton End
- Traffic Signals 6-8 February – To allow Essex County Council to complete carriageway resurfacing
- Closure 25-29 March – UK Power Networks will be closing Burton End while the company disconnects/alters supply infrastructure.
Cambridge Road
- Traffic Signals until Feb 5 – Two way traffic lights are in use opposite Hargrave Mews while UK Power Networks completes utility repair and maintenance works.
- Closure 12-13 March – Essex County Council will close the road for carriageway resurfacing
Chapel Hill
- Closure 6-8 February – Essex County Council will close the road for NIGHT-TIME resurfacing work. You will not be able to park along Grove Hill while the roadworks are carried. Vehicles risk being towed away if left parked.
Church Road
- Closure 31 March – 13 April – Essex County Council will close the road for drainage work
Forest Hall Road
- Traffic Signals April 14-30 – Two way traffic lights are to be used close to where Forest Hall Road meets Stansted Road. The Electrical Network Company will be completing utility asset work.
Gipsy Lane
- Closure until 31 January – The Electrical Network Company requires the closure to carry out utility asset work along the lane.
Grove Hill
- Closure (10 February – 7 March) to allow Cadent to replace gas pipes along Grove Hill
High Lane
- Closure (3-28 March) to allow Cadent to replace gas pipes along High Lane
- Closure (30 March – 11 April) to allow Affinity Water to improve the “resilience of [their] water infrastructure”
Limekiln Lane
- Closure 24-25 March – Open Reach will be carrying out utility asset work
Lower Street
- Closure (10-11 March) to allow Essex County Council to carry out road resurfacing work
- Closure (3-28 March) to allow Cadent to replace gas pipes along Lower Street (from the junction with Grove Hill towards and including High Lane)
Silver Street
- Traffic Signals 6-8 February – To allow Essex County Council to complete carriageway resurfacing
- Closure 12-13 March – Essex County Council will close the road for carriageway resurfacing
Stansted Road
- Traffic Signals February 3-9 – Two way traffic lights are in use where Stansted Road meets Gipsy Lane. These roadworks are to allow Electrical Network Company complete utility asset works.
Station Road
- Closure from March 11 -12 Essex County Council will carryout highways improvement works with access to cars being restricted from where Station Road meets Lower Street towards the railway station itself.

SMPC as a lower tier local authority has no highways powers and is not involved in either the scheduling or granting of permission of roadworks in the village. Essex Highways has the sole responsibility in highways matters in our area and for granting roadworks permits.
