Residents are being asked to hold off contacting Uttlesford District Council’s planning enforcement team about the condition of the road surface along High Lane.
The team said they have taken “a high number of referrals regarding mud on High Lane.” Those contacting them believe the problem has been caused by developers of 30 new dwellings in a field opposite Coltsfield / High Lane junction.
Investigation already underway
The enforcement team report an open investigation into the alleged breach of planning [permission] is underway in relation to this development.
The investigation is looking into whether the developers of this project have created a new access onto the site, removing hedgerows and mature vegetation in this process (District Council reference INV/24/0181/C).
Mud of the road
In response to complaints received from local residents, an enforcement case officer has been in contact with the developers to raise concerns regarding mud being left on the road.
The enforcement team said now they are aware, and action is being taken, about problems with the development along High Lane contacting them will not lead to a faster outcome.
Planning Enforcement Team Leader Sarah Marshall explained: “We do not prioritise our cases based on the number of people calling and emailing the team regarding matters we are looking into.”
