The day centre and Crafton Green underwent major renovation work in March and April. TouchPoint raised over £120,000 to pay for the improvements. With a better kitchen, new toilets, improved access, and more floor space at 72 Chapel Hill, the community organisation says it can now expand its services from where it already runs food shares, advice drop-ins, free meals, community cafes, and film afternoons. Stansted Mountfitchet has been supporting TouchPoint in a number of ways. TouchPoint was able to access a £9k reserve set aside by SMPC to improve facilities at the day centre. A further £27k in district council money, previously awarded to SMPC to be used for the day centre’s upkeep, was also made available for the improvements. The Parish Council also signed a Licence to Occupy agreements with TouchPoint, making it easier to operate from 72 Chapel Hill, and the Parish Council continues to offer the premises rent-free to the organisation. SMPC funded repairs to Crafton Green House’s roof, soffit boards and gutters.
