This year’s parish litter pick was a soggy, but successful affair. The British weather dripped on our crew of volunteers – made up of young and old residents alike – who spent two hours scouring Stansted’s footpaths, roads and hedgerows for litter. Their hard work saw the village at least 20 bags of rubbish cleaner. The types of stuff picked raised eyebrows as much as the quantity: bollards, pipes, leggings, pants, even complete clothing collection charity packs – three of which were found dumped in a Bentfield hedgerow!
