Council pledges £1,500 to Christmas Gift Appeal

The Parish Council has put £1,500 behind a community campaign that will put smiles of hundreds of children’s faces in Uttlesford this Christmas.

TouchPoint’s campaign to raise £15,000 to pay for gifts for children in Uttlesford this Christmas is already well on its way to reaching its target, helped by a £1,500 contribution from the Parish Council.

The Finance and General Purpose committee agreed at the end of October to a grant request by TouchPoint Stansted for money towards their Kids Christmas Gift Appeal. The Full Council approved the allocation of funds at a meeting in November.

More than 600 children across the district could benefit from the campaign, which aims to support families and carers struggling to pay for Christmas as the cost of living crisis continues to bite this winter.

The money raised by the appeal will be put to £25 Amazon vouchers that will be distributed to families identified as in need of help by Mind in West Essex, schools and local support agencies.
