Cemetery Interments

Cemetery Interments

The parish cemetery next to St Mary’s Church has been administered by Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council since 1956.

The half-acre site hosts 500 graves and cremation plots.

Unfortunately, the cemetery has now reached its capacity.

Because of this, we are unable to grant requests for interments at the parish cemetery.

Existing commitments

We continue to honour any existing commitments made for burials as well as for interments for family graves (with capacity) at the cemetery.

But in all other circumstances, you are advised to consult with your funeral directors for nearby alternatives.

Open for visits

The cemetery, off Church Road, remains open for people wishing to pay respects to love ones laid to rest at St Mary’s and for those wishing to enjoy the tranquility provided by the cemetery and its surroundings.

Cemetery Rules

When visiting St Mary’s, please be mindful of the rules contained in our Cemetery Regulations. The rules have been created so everyone can use this public space safely and with due consideration for others.
