Business Support Drop-ins

Business Support Drop-ins

Local businesses can get help applying for district council grants from next week at the Mountfitchet Exchange.

Drop-in sessions to support Stansted businesses apply for funding and access advice and training opportunities will get under way next Friday at our offices at 72 Chapel Hill.

Andy Schmiedecke, business support officer at Uttlesford District Council, will be holding the session from 10am-1pm.

More drop-ins at the Exchange are then planned every second Friday of the month.

Grant Support

The sessions’ main aim is to make it easier for businesses in Stansted to successfully access the district authority’s Business Start Up Grant, High Street Premises Enhancement Fund, and Low Carbon Workplace Grant.

Businesses that have been trading for less than two years in Uttlesford can apply for for grants worth £500 to £2,500 under the Business Start Up Grant scheme.

The High Street Premises Enhancement Fund helps businesses in Uttlesford by providing £500 to £5,000 grants to pay for the improvement or repair of their shop fronts.

The Low Carbon Workplace Grant, meanwhile, offers £500-£5,000 grants to small and medium sized businesses in the district to reduce their carbon footprint.

Economic Development Group Success

The drop-in initiative is the result of discussions between members of the recently formed Economic Development Group into how best to support businesses in Stansted.

The group consists of members of the Stansted Business Forum, the Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council and Uttlesford District Council.

The decision to launch the Business Advice Drop-ins was taken at the group’s monthly meet-up on December 8, and its first since it was founded in October.
